For the 3rd year running, 87 teams of amateur adventurers and adrenaline junkies will descend upon the valley for the North Face Challenge. The intense competition takes place over three days on a course where endurance, daring and suppleness will soon sort out the men from the boys.

The 250 competitors are coming from all over France, Switzerland and Belgium and will set off on the challenge on Saturday morning. The 120km course will take them across some hardcore terrain among the Aiguille Rouges between Servoz and Les Houches. By the end, those that make it will have clocked up 6700m of ascent and 6500m of descent. With three disciplines to complete; mountain biking, running and snow shoeing, the winning teams should arrive in the centre of Chamonix on Monday evening.
