Search for missing Cadet called off...

Mountain rescue teams who have been seaching for an army cadet officer, 25 year old Blake Hartley, who disappeared last Saturday, were called off yesterday. Mr Hartley disappeared on Saturday evening having been out with friends in town.

Mr Hartley's mother and stepfather have been assisting in the search, wading through rivers, looking for clues and distributing posters.

It is feared that Mr Hartley will no longer be alive, with the local Gendarmerie suspecting that he may have fallen into the river on his way back to his campsite on the Saturday night. The Gendaremerie will continue its inquiries in around the resort.

Anyone who might have any information concerning Mr Hartley's whereabouts is requested to contact the Chamonix Gendarmeries on +33 (0)4 50 53 16 89 or +33 (0)4 50 53 00 55
