featured in News & reviews Author Helen McGrory, Chamonix Reporter Updated

If you're currently a foreign resident in France and the mere mention of taxation makes you clear your throat in an uncomfortable fashion, then you may be interested in a meeting being hosted by the Mairie on Friday, October 12th aimed at clarifying tax information for foreign residents.

Taxation can be a pretty complex topic in your own country, never mind abroad and in a language that you perhaps don't speak fluently. Well this meeting will be held in English and have representatives from the Tax Office, the Treasury of the Department de la Haute Savoie and the Chamonix Mont Blanc commune all present, to explain the taxation system for foreign residents in France and answer your questions.

Topics that will be covered include:

  • Taxes as a French property owner

  • Taxes when building/buying/selling property in France

  • Tax of income earned in France as a French resident

  • Tax of income earned from outside France as a French resident

  • Wealth tax

  • Local taxes
  • The meeting will be held at 2.30pm in the Congress Centre of the Majestic building and there will be some snacks and treats served afterwards.
