UK based Originalskiposters.com, is the first online gallery to exclusively sell original vintage posters dating from the golden age of skiing and alpine travel. Hundreds of posters, some from as long ago as the 1920s, are available to buy in the online gallery.

As Alpine sports holidays became affordable, ski resorts and travel firms commissioned the finest graphic artists of the day to create advertising posters to display in railway stations, travel agencies and public places.
The man behind the new site, Russell Johnston – who is also a full-time City lawyer - said: “Original ski posters have become increasingly sought after, not only because so many continue to escalate spectacularly in value due to their rarity, but also because it's such a great way for skiers and lovers of the outdoors to remember a special holiday or display their love of winter sports. It's also a unique, unforgettable and original gift for active and armchair winter sport lovers alike! Most of our clients, however, simply buy - for themselves or a loved one - because they adore the spectacular and evocative art work on offer.”

The most popular posters tend to be by the “name” artists such as Peikert, Villemot and Weiss. Similarly, the most collectable tend to be those for the classic early ski destinations such as St Moritz, Klosters, Wengen and Chamonix, all of which feature extensively in the originalskiposters.com archive.

Historic winter sports posters fetch up to £20,000 at the Ski Sale held annually since 1996 at Christies, South Kensington. Most can however be obtained for far lesser sums, and covetable examples in the gallery may be obtained from as little as several hundred pounds. Each original is guaranteed to be an original vintage poster, and a certificate of authenticity is available. Should a replica print of the original better suit the pocket, these too are available at a substantially lower price. Original posters cost between £110 to £4,000 whilst replica prints can be snapped up for £35 to £220.
