If you’re hoping for an “Indian summer,” tearing you’re hair out waiting for the snow to come…. or you haven’t decamped to hotter climes, then there’s still a few events to keep you sane in Chamonix this month.
If your a beer fan but haven’t had the chance to experience Munich’s legendary beer festival - then there’s a taster of what its all about in Cham Sud. Beer swilling, giant pretzel, Würstl and Sauerkraut eating are all going on at the Monkey bar on Friday 3rd October. There’s also an excuse for a bit of glitz and glamour at Amnesia’s Masquerade ball. Get your feather masks out and get ready for some deep house on Saturday 4th.
For anyone looking for a bit of culture the every sunday this month The Hameau Albert Premier Hotel is showcasing two artists: photographer, mountain guide & ski instructor Beatrix Walter and sculptor, Annie Laurence Malleron. You'll find the artwork in the salons of the Albert 1er and the Quartz Bar. They're also hosting a wine tasting lunch on the 11th, but you'll have to get in quick on this one as places are limited.
Starting on the weekend of the 18th is a new exhibition in the Rue des Moulins The display of old stereoscopic images of Chamonix runs until the 29th March 2015 at the La Maison de la Mémoire et du Patrimoine.
If you are missing the vibe of the Cosmo Jazz festival then you can enjoy the Les Manchots who will be playing from 7pm on the 9th of October at MJC La Coupole in the centre of town. The quartet blend tradition jazz standards and gypsy jazz, with some pop and tubes.
Agricultural fans can take a look around the annual sheep fair in Servoz on Sunday 12th where you'll be able to find lots of stall selling regional produce, cider and food. There's live music and maybe even a bit of yodelling.
On the weekend of the 18th / 19th October sports fans can enjoy the 42nd edition of the International Curling Championships. Teams will be competing at the Ice Stadium at the Richard Bozon sports centre.
On various dates in the next 6 months Chamonix plays host to Une Montagne de Spectacles, which showcases different artists, musicians and activities for the children to get involved with.
