La Tour Gondola to remain closed for summer

Originally thought to be a minor delay, a press release on Friday stated that scheduled maintenance on August 30th discovered damage to part of the pulley system on the drive pulley shaft. "To replace these parts," the statement read, "we must place an order that will require several weeks of manufacturing."

Compagnie du Mont Blanc have reassured customers that access to the Balm area will still be possible from Vallorcine, which will remain open until September 16th, later than the planned summer closure of September 2nd. The Autannes chairlift will also remain open.
