After the destruction caused by storm Elenor back in January 2018, the Panoramic Mont Blanc gondola is finally due to resume service in June after extensive repair works.
The lift, which runs from the top of the Aiguille du Midi to Pointe Hellbronner on the Italian side of the Mont-Blanc massif, was severely damaged by 220km/h winds and huge amounts of snow brought by the storm. Now, after over a year of ongoing repair work, Compagnie du Mont Blanc have announced that business as normal will resume by mid-June. The exact date to be announced soon.
The Panoramic Mont Blanc gondola usually operates during the summer months, and has been much missed by visiting tourists and locals alike. This amazing 5km gondola journey passes over the Geant glacier, giving you spectacular views over ice falls, crevasses and the Mont Blanc massif. A one-way trip takes 30 minutes in a 4-person gondola.
