After the closure of the Aiguille du Midi lift for unexpected maintenance on June 10th, Compagnie du Mont Blanc have announced an early reopening of the bottom section on Saturday, June 30th.

Originally closed due to the detection of an "anomaly" on the cable, work to replace the cable on the second section of the Aiguille du Midi téléphérique appears to be on schedule.

The resumption of service on the Plan de l'Aiguille to Aiguille du Midi lift is still due for Saturday, July 7th. With the Mont Blanc Marathon taking place from June 29th to July 1st, this news will delight the many trail runners in Chamonix for the event.
