Two days earlier than planned, the Mer de Glace ice cave and the télécabine to access the glacier will reopen for summer 2018, with the Montenvers train already in operation.

The Mer de Glace is undoubtedly one of the most popular visitor attractions in the Chamonix Valley, and one of the most famous in the French Alps. You can access it via the Montenvers train and visit the ice cave once you're there. Other points of interest at Montenvers are the Crystal Gallery, the Museum of Alpine Fauna, various nature trails and the famous Hotel du Montenvers. Find more excursions and sights to see in Chamonix and the surrounding area.

The main Chamonix resort lifts at Le Tour, Brevent, and Flegere, as well as the Bellevue cable car at Les Houches, will be open to the public from July 16th, with the Aiguille du Midi remaining closed for maintenance until July 7th at the earliest.
