After announcing Monday, June 4th that the Aguille du Midi top lift would reclose for maintenance, Compagnie du Mont-Blanc has today announced the early closure of the mid-station lift on June 10. To facilitate visitors and locals alike, the opening of the Planpraz gondola at Brevent has been brought forward to Tuesday June 12th.

Originally due to remain open until June 17th, the Plan de l’Aiguille lift will closing early to facilitate works on the top section as the cable manufacturer has manufactured the replacement cable quicker than expected. "The company entrusted with the manufacture of the replacement cable has informed us that they are able bring forward its delivery to next week which means that the manoeuvres may begin that much earlier," the company stated in a press release on Friday.

Brevent is the closest summer lift to the centre of Chamonix town. You can access the mid station at 1,999m either by the Plan Praz gondola or on foot, up the steep zig-zagging path that's visible from the town centre, otherwise knows as the Vertical Kilometre.
