Chamonix Apres Ski Report:4th March 2011

What a busy weekend it was last weekend. Friday night saw the return of the Winter Sessions crew and a fantastic night of Disco Bloodbath. Although it was not the busiest of Podium nights that was certainly made up for in the amazing outfits that appeared. From afro wigs, sequin hot pants to disco ball helmets and all mixed up with a little blood and gore, brilliant! The next winter sessions night returns on the 25th March and then after that we have the winter sessions weekender coming up in April.

There was a fair bit going in town this weekend and you may have caught some of the jibbing action in the Place du Mont Blanc where they had set up some scary looking rails. This followed on with a big night in La Cantina which went on until the wee hours of the morning.

The rugby also provided some great entertainment on Saturday when England took on France. I'm not sure there was an empty bar in town for that one, and England did us proud! Just the Scottish and Irish to take on now! Again I returned to the Vagabond to take advantage of their excellent new HD screen and projector but also for the bar snacks. I can highly recommend the Potato skins and the nachos come in a mega size portion, great for sharing!

If you haven't had a visit to Satsuki the Japanese restaurant in town then add it to the to do list. For the toilets if for nothing else! The food is excellent and so are the staff and they have a great lunch time menu for only €8.80. The toilets are always a talking point, with heated seats, front and back washers and even an oscillator!

With the fantastic snow we had over the weekend, Monday proved to be a pretty special day up the mountain. We celebrated after by heading to the Rhododendrons in Les Praz for some pizza and beer. Now the days are getting longer this is a good place to hit in the afternoons to start the après off as there is a great terrace outside for relaxing in the sun.

That's it from me this week, after the busy weekend it has been quite a quiet week. Lots to fit in next week though starting off with the comedy on Monday night at Le Jekyll, three comedians this time, I've heard it's going to be a big one, so get your tickets early!

Don't forget to keep an eye on the What's On Calendar for a full list of events over the winter season. You can also find full Bar and Restaurant listings in the Dining and Going Out section of the site.
