Chamonix Apres Ski Report: 23rd April 2009
La La Land at Le Podium lived up to all the hype and expectations again this weekend and brought with it a whole new appreciation and twist to Latin American Samba Music.
While the hardcore ravers showed off their tango-tastic moves across their choice of three dance floors, the more sedate party goers were treated to fire blowing, knife juggling and general circus antics in the outdoor area. La La Land raged on into the early hours of the morning, leaving a trail of shell-shocked victims in its wake - but the party didn't end there!
Even after parties have after parties in this town and those that survived the first, somehow managed to find their way up the mountain side and into the woods for the second impromptu party of its kind in the last few months, treating the local wildlife to a show of dancing and festivities rarely ever seen by their kind.
With the party spirit still fresh in the air, the following nights also proceeded to be late ones as several bars had their closing down parties for the summer, including the South bar which was offering punters the opportunity to drink the bar dry for just €20.
This will no doubt be a recurring theme over the next couple of weeks as the season officially comes to an end, so keep an eye out for some big nights coming up such as:
The Club House Famous Snow BBQ - Thursday 23rd April €25 for two courses. The Clubhouse closes for the summer on the 27th of April so make sure you pay it a visit before it's too late!
Le Vert Pre-Party BBQ - Friday 24th April €10 BBQ in the garden and free punch. If you can't make it for that then you should definitely check out Le Vert on Saturday night when SUMO Sui play and it's two for one drinks all night!
MJC Funk Concert - Saturday 25th April Korosive Groove Band and Une Famille Ordinaire play live.
Le Savoy Bar - All week this bar in Argentiere is hosting a happy hour every night , 8pm-9pm, €6 pitchers
Next week is the final of the ski season and therefore even bigger than this week! Of course I will be here to give you all the details next Thursday but here a few dates to put in the diary:
1st May - The Pirate Party at The Monkey with two for one rum drinks.
3rd May - The Freeride Day big end of season party at Les Grands Montests ski area
3rd May - Freeride Day after party at Le Vert featuring Finger Lickin' Records!
9th May - Full Moon Party at Cantina and their last night!
