Chamonix Apres Ski Report: 28th February 2009

featured in Nightlife reviews Author Ellie Mahoney, Chamonix Editor Updated

It's busy, busy, busy in Chamonix as the half term holiday madness continues!

No country in the world celebrates their holiday's with quite so much colour and gusto as Brazil and this week Le Petit Canard brought Brazil to town !A vibrant collection of fabulous fancy dress descended first upon Monkey and eventually Le Toff and the prize of a parapent ride was awarded to the best fancy dress. The duo Coco Penny entertained the crowds with their sweet Caribbean melodies until DJ PICO took up the reigns over at Le Toff

Sometimes all you need to forget about those après ski aches and pains is a good old chuckle and you're guaranteed to be doing this at one of Le Jekyll's legendary comedy nights. These unmissable nights feature professional stand up comedians, take place every month and are sure to have you laughing all the way home. The next comedy night to look out for is this Sunday the 1st of March.

Comedy nights are not the only attraction Le Jekyll has to offer. This week I headed down there to see Honey Fungus play to a busy crowd. This was the first time I had the pleasure of watching the Welsh duo play and it certainly won't be the last .The lead singer has an amazing Catatonia-esk voice which is perfectly complimented by her other half on the guitar. They play a mixture of songs from Nirvana to Kate Nash with their own very distinct twist on each rivaling many of the original versions.

Honey Fungus play next at Le Jekyll on Wednesday the 4th of March and every Wednesday apres at Le Rhododendron in Le Praz which is this years place to go if you're looking for a cosy spot to enjoy a couple of après ski drinks after a day up Flegere.

There has been plenty of activity taking place on the piste as well as off this week and I'm not just talking about the queues! The North Face Ski Challenge took place this Saturday at Le Grands Montets board park and gave young skiers the chance to show off their freestyle skills and win a sponsorship deal with North Face , Dynastar and Lange. The competition was open to all European riders born between the years of 1990-1996 and the winners will compete in the finals in Val Thorens in March.

To keep updated with the off piste activity along with any on piste events stay tuned to Chamonet.com and get involved!
