Chamonix Activity Report: 26th May 2005

featured in Activity reviews Author Ellie Mahoney, Chamonix Editor Updated

The weather has been hot, hot, hot for the last few days. We'll be out taking a leisurely lunch in the sun later today. Town remains quiet (we are actually contemplating going 10-pin bowling tonight, which must give you some indication of how quiet things are!) and in a frenzy of building works. This is actually one of our favourite times of the year as things are quite laid back and lots of people we work with are out and about in the daytime to catch up with, have a chat and a coffee. If you are a visitor who isn't coming for the sports or a look at the views most places are having a break.

Our continued dedication to 'Building Watch' can be seen in the photos on the right! For more exciting developments watch this space.... highlights will include a new surface for the Mont Blanc car park, the centre of town tarmac being replaced and a new bridge over the river!

We have been busy ourselves improving (we think!) the site: lots of things are coming online, being updated, or being added to. We have kicked this off with the Chamonet.com Chamonix Photo Gallery, which we are quite pleased with, and we have simplified to process to upload your own submissions. There are quite a few of our own winter activities and thank you to those who have submitted their images (link to add your own is in the Gallery).

The Brevent lift has been open this week and we have been watching the parapenters reap the rewards of the first thermals of the summer. We have zoomed one of the view of our Chamonix webcam views so that you can watch/check the conditions

That's it for now. We'll be back with more news updates as they come.
