Snow makes a welcome return in Chamonix for the official start of spring

Snow has made a very welcome return to Chamonix this weekend, with a heavy continuous dump that has topped up the snow depths from the valley floor to the mountain peaks.

The weather has now improved since the weekend but fleeting snow showers are likely to persist until Wednesday.

Up at Le Tour on Sunday the visibility was a bit poor, so heading between the the trees over the back we found some nice snow and carried on doing laps until the lifts closed early for local elections.. not sure who voted that decision in!
Grands Montets was in a similar situation and those who were skiing during the snowfall saw tracks being covered up after just one lap!
We wanted to test the situation in Courmayeur in Italy as often the weather can be the polar opposite, conditions were brighter but there was definitely more snow in Chamonix than over there.

If your skiing with your own equipment, it's always a good idea to get a service done when the conditions change to make sure the base is in the best condition for the snow, virtually all the ski hire shops offer this service.
