Chamonix Snow Report: 30th January 2004

featured in Snow report Author Ellie Mahoney, Chamonix Editor Updated

Well today was the day! The first perfectly clear day for weeks. There was fresh snow from yesterday's flurries and the weeks of cold fine powder. Pistes and lifts are fantastically quiet, although February traffic is starting to build up from here on in.

The forecast is to remain reasonable for the next half week. The avalanche risk is high currently though this is predicted to drop as the snowpack stabilises. All the slopes are good for sliding.

The NEW Chamcam is installed and operational - expect to see it on the site in the nect couple of days. See one of the test images to the right....
