Chamonix Snow Report: 4th February 2004

featured in Snow report Author Ellie Mahoney, Chamonix Editor Updated

More of the same. Great isn't it. I was up on the Vallée Blanche the other day and the conditions are fantastic. Large amounts of snow are required to create snow bridges across the crevasses in the ice. You still need to go with a mountain guide, however the run is quite easy going. The nerve-wracking part is at the start when you need to traverse an arret, with a sheer drop to Chamonix on one side.

The main thrill of the ride is the 17km of run, the stunning scenery and in the current climes it is really a day to remember. Go early in the day to beat teh crowds.

The PanoChamCam is now fully operational...we have some great images now available on the site: webcams index. We have a few more on their way....
