Chamonix Snow Report: 15th January 2015

A mixed bag on Flegere / Brevent this morning with some powder to be found off the Floria

I was quite tempted to stay in bed this morning and by the time I got to Brevent at about 10 - I wished I had. The light was vey flat and what promised to be a powder day was actually a crusty windswept off piste and lots of brown patches on the piste. But it wasn’t too busy at least.

We decided to head over to Flegere and maybe even skin up Floria and check the snow out there. The slopes looked barren and windswept again, but the light was improving at least.

By the time we got to the Index they had opened the Floria drag lift, and as it hasn’t been opened yesterday, there was powder on the piste and off piste which was really quite fun - mostly powdery with a few heavier patches.

We lapped it twice - cutting left from the top of Floria the first time, then right, almost under the lift the second. I felt quite tired by the end of it as the snow earlier on had been quite hard work….but it was nice to get a few really nice powder runs in for a change!
