Chamonix Snow Report: 26th March 2015

A dusting of Spring Snow

featured in Snow report Author Ellie Mahoney, Chamonix Editor Updated

We got a bit excited this morning when we saw the snow level had come down to almost town level, with a fresh sugar coating on the trees. Time for a dump alert? No, not quite..

As you'll see from the video above from Seven Twenty, there's been around 3cm of fresh snow at Grands Montets over night, 3cm at Brevent and Flegere, 5cm at the top of Le Tour, nothing to report at Les Houches, and 20cm at the Midi.

There may be another dusting overnight tonight if the forecasts are to believed and one of them is predicting a whopping 60-70cm at mid mountain level on Sunday.. but we'll have to wait and see if that transpires.

The avalanche risk is currently 2/5.

It looks like the cloud has settled in for the day today, but maybe we'll be having a better, sunnier day on Saturday. Keep your fingers crossed!
